About Hold My Chalice
Hold My Chalice began in January 2023 at Substack and has moved to Ghost as of April 2026. It's written by Rev. Kimberley Debus, a Unitarian Universalist minister based in the DC Metro area. Hold My Chalice explores congregational life, leadership, governance, worship, theology, and other topics related to liberal religion. Sometimes the posts are a little more specifically Unitarian Universalist, but they're written to be accessible to people of many faiths.
This site is decidedly progressive, often snarky, but always intending to be helpful to anyone in a congregation. People can be messy, and people collected together for common purpose can make pretty ridiculous messes together. We'll call out Congregational Shenanigans™ as well as promote good practices.
