A Short Hiatus
wherein I discover there's never a perfect time to take a break
TL:DR: Hold My Chalice will be on a short break, returning December 3.
Hello, beloved readers.
I’m afraid my well is dry. I am out of spoons. I have exhausted the reserves. The tank is on empty. Pick whatever metaphor you like - all I know is that for weeks I’ve been running on fumes, not wanting to disappoint you all and not wanting to lose momentum.
But I stared at the empty screen for probably a half hour, with words refusing to come.
And it’s no wonder. The summer and fall have been hard, and I’m behind, overwhelmed, and tapped out. Remember when I talked about the long list of topics I was going to write so I had a good backlog? Didn’t happen. And in fact, that list just keeps getting longer and longer. As does my to-do list for the rest of my ministry.
As the blinking cursor taunted me to tap out something, anything. all I could think of was hiatus (and then had to retype it three times because it’s one of those words I can just never remember how to spell).
So… I’m going to spend the next few weeks tending to my to-do list, my physical well-being, some household chores, and most of all, my spirit.
In the meantime, if you’re hungry for HMC content, go into the archives and see what Congregational Shenanigans™ I have written about in the last nearly three years. Or go to YouTube, search my name, and find a bunch of sermons I’ve preached at various congregations.
Or just enjoy this animated segment from the “Karaoke Night” episode of Game Changer (which I now sing every time I think about my to-do list).
I’ll see you in a few weeks.
